As part of my reading goal to raise my Netgalley/Edelweiss review percentages, I've been deep in my Kindle App bag—so much so that I almost scrolled past this children's book I received back in 2023. Oops. You know what? This feature ties into something I already read late last year, and I think it's the perfect time to shine the spotlight on the book! Let's get some history off my plate and learn about the "Richest Man in History," Mansa Musa.

After reading The Scorpion Queen by Mina Fears and noticing that she mentioned the lineage of Mansa Musa, I decided to dig into my TBR for some quick knowledge on the man. While meant to pique interest, this children's book is a valuable educational tool. It's a great way to introduce children to the story of the richest man in history. We all know that there is much more information about this remarkable king, but I like that the author chose to stick to his riches and how he gained, multiplied, and utilized them.
The book is only 38 pages, so it was a quick factoid about the man and his expansion. It also features beautiful artistry and a glossary to explain those hard words for children to comprehend. There are also some questionnaires and a DIY art piece kids and adults can participate in together.
Overall, I rated this book 4-stars. Mansa Musa: The Richest Man in History by Our Story Media It's perfect for children to learn more about Mansa Musa and his financial leadership. The book is the first in its historical persons series, so make sure you collect them all and check out the second book, Fatima Al-Fihri: Founder of the World's Oldest University, which is available now.
